Long time no talk, really sorry for the gap in updates but it was necessary to take a break from toxic media for good, I made this as a sign of life and a cheer for those who have lost faith in humanity.

This piece was long overdue and it is personal!

To be honest, this piece is more personal than it should be. Its working title was: “the 8th impact“.
I rewatched all Evangelion Series and Movies and it actually has helped me to understand the Anime a lot better! I would not say I have the answers and in the vein of the show, this piece should leave you with more questions than answers.

In my book, the impacts are metaphorical and stand for big incidents that can cause traumata in someone’s life. In the series, the organization like NERV or Seele are parts of the human body that has one purpose - to stay alive and get along with each other.
But traumata make living with each others difficult which is why the impacts have to be prevented. The Angels are just symptoms of an underlying disease, problem or anxiety the body fights. The EVA’s are our bodies and everyday we decide to get into that body to stand up for our ideals and after many fights we question our values and everything else.

Impacts are many things like the transition growing from child to adult but also a certain diagnosis or the death of a loved one, because for the person experiencing it, the world will never be the same again!

The base for this piece was an existing work by the Artist William Trost Richards from 1881, like all works from the „Ancient Kaiju Project“ the concept lies in the combination of classic art with popular culture and to conceive a new message by creating a dialogue between the past and the future.
